Mobile home leaks can occur at the worst possible times and disrupt your day. Don’t let a leaky roof ruin your plans! The following tips will help you fix your roof quickly and easily, so you can get other things done in the day.
How to make a Mobile Home Roof Repair
- Apply a roof coating, such as Silver Dollar, to prevent and fix pinhole leaks. This gets the job done in just a couple of hours for around $100. It involves spending time on the roof, so use caution if you have a fear of heights.
- Check the roof for particularly rusted spots and larger holes. Fix pinhole leaks with roof coating.
- Repair larger leaks with sheet metal to fit over the rusted spot/hole. Use silicon caulk to put it into place. Once dry, cover the sheet metal with the roof coating.
- Consider replacing the roof if the leak is too large to fix with sheet metal. This should be pretty rare.
Safety Tips!
- Don’t work outside in the middle of the day, especially in summertime. Start early in the morning or wait until later in the evening.
- Don’t do the job by yourself. Recruit a friend or neighbor to help you. You need somebody to hold the ladder and check for safety.
- Be careful with cut sheet metal. The edges are extremely sharp!
- Dispose of any leftover coating according to label directions.
