Seva Call Moves to Madison - Seva Call

Madison, Wisconsin is consistently voted one of the best places to live in the United States.

And from my research…. I have to agree! Seriously, I’ve been to Madison… In the dead of winter… With 0 degree Fahrenheit temperatures… And two feet of snow.

The sledding was great! So, obviously, I am very qualified to declare the awesomeness that is Madison, Wisconsin.

Okay, maybe not me, but my lovely co-worker Madeline just so happens to attend the University of Wisconsin – Madison (that is like THE school in Wisconsin) and she loves the city as much as she loves the university. So, Madeline is here today to drop some serious knowledge about Madison, Wisconsin

Okay, Madeline from Madison. Impress me.

M: I’m from Maryland. I only go to school in Madison.

But it has such a nice ring to it. Anyway, be informative already!

M: Madison is amazing for many reasons.

Okaaaay….

M: But seriously. I know Madison is really cold in the winter, but it’s beautiful in the summer. Madison is wedged on an isthmus between Lake Mandota and Lake Manona. Everyone goes up to the Union and sits on the terrace that overlooks the lake. People go sailing and swimming and waterskiing

Isthmus is a WHAT???

M: Uh… It’s a sliver of land connecting larger land masses, in this case with water on either side.

Okay. And what about your university?

M: I love U of W – Madison. We have our own creamery called Babcock Creamery that has its own cows. The ice cream made there is amazing. I also love State Street, which runs from our library to the Capitol building and is lined with awesome restaurants and shops. Its a great college town.

Any other random facts?

M: Well, Madison is the capital of Wisconsin, and its capitol building was modeled after the DC capitol building, so that’s kind of cool I guess. We also have the country’s largest farmers market – Dane County’s Farmers Market. It goes all up and down the main road and you can find anything there. Awesome food.

And would Madison dig Seva Call?

M: Totally! Madison is full of small businesses always looking for help.

How Does Postural Integration Therapy Work? - Massage Therapy

Have you had a few massages? Are they losing their luster? Do you want to take your massages to the next level? Are you open minded and not afraid to get “Out There?’ Then postural integration therapy is for you. Your next question is likely, how does postural integration therapy work?

Postural integration is based on the idea of body armor. We all develop “body armor” to deal with everyday stress. This body armor stores up as tense muscles, and to release the muscles, we must deal with the underlying cause of the body armor issue. This is as much psychological therapy and body awareness as it is a massage.

How Does Postural Integration Therapy Work?

Body armor is difficult to get rid of. Postural integration therapy brings you through a series of steps. Each step is designed for you to become aware of a different part of your body. Not only do you become aware of that part of your body, but you learn what is making that part of your body tense – what makes it body armor. You release the tension that you have stored in your mind to release the muscle’s tension. This process helps you improve your daily posture and relieve the tension in your muscles.

You don’t just go through these 10 steps one at a time. You must graduate through the steps with your therapist. So, you have to return to the postural integration therapy office until you pass through the step; until you release that particular body armor.

Give Postural Integration Therapy A Try

If you are interested in postural integration therapy, or if you would like to learn more, speak with a professional massage therapist. TalkLocal will connect you with up to three professionals in your area in just minutes, so you can get your questions answered and the help you need, fast.

Portable Storage Lockers - Moving and Storage

Let’s be honest. As humans, we have a remarkable ability to accumulate a whole lot of stuff. Stuff that needs to be stored. To cure this problem, many of us opt to employ the use of storage facilities to keep our garage overflow, seasonal items, or even vehicles. However, if driving across town to get access to your belongings is less than ideal, you can consider portable storage lockers as a viable alternative. There are many reasons that a portable storage unit could be a better option for you than a physical storage facility. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons.

The Right Size for the Job

Portable storage lockers are available in a wide array of sizes and shapes, from small enough to pull behind a pickup truck to large enough to fit a semi truck. If you’re looking for a storage unit with the ultimate flexibility in space, portable storage units are available in a larger variety of sizes than physical building storage, most of the time.

Convenience

When it’s time to put things in storage in a traditional storage facility, you’re going to be packing the car or truck full of your belongings, hauling them across town, and loading them into your storage unit yourself, sometimes taking multiple trips. With portable storage lockers, the container is delivered to your door. Carry items from your home or business straight into the unit, and it’s carted away when you’re done.

Pack and Move

Packing a moving truck and hauling it across the country is one of the many nightmares of moving. Save on hassle and fuel, and easily hire help for loading and unloading. Once packed, your storage unit will be in the new town or city waiting when you move in.

Install OS On Netbook

Install OS On Netbook - Computer Repair

Most netbooks do not have CD/DVD drives, which usually is not a big deal. However, this can be a problem if you need to install a new operating system on it. Follow the directions below to install OS on netbook.

Know What Kind of Netbook You Have

Before doing anything to your netbook, you should have a solid understanding of its specs. Most importantly, you’ll need to know how much storage space your netbook has. If your netbook doesn’t have much space, you will want to install a bare version of your operating system, especially with Windows 7.

This means you won’t be able to install anything “optional.” However, if you have lots of space, you can install any feature you want, but make sure to leave 2-4GB of space for other programs.

Make Your Flash Drive Bootable

If you want to install an OS from your flash drive, you will need to make it bootable. Try LiveUSB Helper, a free program used to easily set up your USB stick.

Copy Your OS to the Flash Drive

If you downloaded an ISO file, you will need a tool like DaemonToolsLite, which mounts the image, allowing you to copy all your files onto your USB drive. Copy every file.

Restart your computer

When your netbook starts up, make it boot from your flash drive by pressing F11 or Delright when the BIOS screen flashes. Select your USB drive from the list and you should be finished.

Don’t forget that when you reinstall an OS, you lose all the data on your netbook, so make sure you back up everything important before doing this.

Follow all of the onscreen instructions to install your new OS.

About Lead Acid Battery Recycling - Garbage Removal

For many of the household items we have in our homes – radios, telephones, remote controls, power tools, and the like – we rely heavily on batteries to use them. But what about the heavier equipment, such as our vehicles? Do we not rely heavily on them as well? The batteries in our cars are known as lead acid batteries. They are an intricate part of our everyday lives, no doubt. However, once the power has run out and we can no longer use them, we then have the responsibility of ensuring that they are properly disposed of.

Lead Acid Batteries

There are multiple chemicals and heavy metals that are used in the creation of these batteries, which play a big part in causing the battery to produce power. However, these materials are extremely toxic to both the land and the air. Therefore, it is wise to dispose of them by recycling, rather than to simply throw them into the garbage, where they can cause harm to the environment.

Lead acid battery recycling is the most common form of battery recycling there is. Experts say that at least 96% of every lead acid battery used is, in fact, recycled. Most states have created laws that require any stores that are selling these types of batteries to offer free collection of them once they’ve been used. And typically what the store will do with these types of batteries once they’ve been re-collected is send them off to be broken down by a machine that will separate the battery parts into plastic, lead, and acid. Once separated, the materials will then be sent off to their corresponding manufacturers for further processing and reuse.

So How Do You Recycle Your Lead Acid Battery?

The most common type of lead acid battery is your car battery. Most automobile retailers will ask you to bring in your old car battery before you buy your new one. In fact, many of them will actually credit the sale of your new battery for recycling your old lead acid car battery with them. So as you can see, lead acid battery recycling is not difficult at all. Just take the battery back to where you got it from, and they should gladly take it off your hands for safe disposal.

Do you have any other questions or concerns regarding lead acid battery recycling or garbage removal? If so, our team can help. TalkLocal may be able to assist you with locating a high-quality professional to answer your questions or concerns. Call today to learn more about how we can help.

Types of Air Conditioner Filters: Electronic

Types of Air Conditioner Filters: Electronic - Heating and Cooling

To maintain clean air in your house, the filters of your air conditioning unit need to be replaced or cleaned periodically. Over time, filters get clogged and lose their ability to absorb dust and other particles, including bacteria, which fill the air. If the filters don’t work properly, they fail to stop the dust and other potentially harmful particles from being re-circulated into the air. So instead of helping and maintaining a clean atmosphere inside your house, dirty filters can cause various health issues.

How Can You Maintain Clean Air in Your Home?

Of all the types of air conditioner filters, electronic filters are considered to provide enhanced indoor air quality. They can increase the performance of your air-conditioning system by pre-filtering the contaminants and allergens in your house.

How Do They Work?

Innovative technology has brought new types of air conditioner filters. Electronic filters are designed to follow the latest standard in the industry. What’s the principle behind this equipment? Simply put, electronic filters act as a pre-filter, which traps dust and dirt particles in the air. The particles that manage to escape from the pre-filter get an electric charge and are then captured by the plates of the electronic filter. This way, most micro particles in the air are absorbed by the filter, and the air is cleaned.

How Many Types of Electronic Filters Are There?

There are two types of electronic filters: one is the charged media filter, and the other is the electrostatic precipitator. The former uses electrically charged fibers to isolate the unwanted particles in the air, while the latter collects dust and pollutants with the help of charged plates. The filter called electrostatic precipitator is more efficient because it has a higher voltage.

8 Interns : 2 Months : 1 Office - Meet Zaneta! - Seva Team

Written by Jaime Fawcett

Hello again everybody! I am back again with another installment of 8 Interns : 2 Months : 1 Office! We are here with Zaneta, aka Big-Z. She is a rising senior at Carnegie Mellon University studying a double major in Economics and Professional Writing. (Very versatile).

She enjoys the occasional song and dance.

8 Interns : 2 Months : 1 Office - Meet Zaneta! - Seva Team

Look at that stage presence. That confidence. That sass. Channeling her inner Sasha Fierce. Work it!

So let’s get to know, Zaneta with a few probing questions.

First one is easy, what do you do here at Seva Call?

At first I was just doing customer service. But now I’m doing sales. I will pretty much do anything. I like being kept on my toes. Sales is definitely more difficult than customer service, but it’s really rewarding when you get a sale.

You have a code name, don’t you?

Yeah, I say my name is Candace. Zaneta is a weird name and hard to understand on the phone, so I say my name is Candace. It’s my middle name, so not too much of a code name. Gotta do what you gotta do.

8 Interns : 2 Months : 1 Office - Meet Zaneta! - Seva Team

So, Zaneta, Zuh – Net – Uh, that’s an interesting name? What’s the origin?

Its supposed to be a Hebrew name. I’m Messianic Jewish, so my mom named me Zaneta because it means God’s precious gift. Or it might be Spanish….who knows. I’ve never met anyone with the same name, so I’m looking forward to the day when I do.

I remember from the 4th of July, your family makes some awesome Caribbean food, what are your favorite dishes?

Oh my gosh, so many. My family is from Guyana so some of the food is actually from a lot of Indian cultures. A lot of curry chicken and roti which is kind of like naan (Indian flatbread). Oxtail, which is seriously a cow’s tail. I know that sounds weird because, like, it’s a tail, but it’s really good!

8 Interns : 2 Months : 1 Office - Meet Zaneta! - Seva Team

Of course, you’re one of the core members of Team Chipotle. What do you get for your order?

Two soft tacos. With chicken and everything they have except for guacamole. I’m cheap, I’m not gonna pay extra for that. One time I got hard shell tacos and the shells were all soft and floppy. I was mad. But I love Chipotle. Not as much as Augie obviously.

You’re an aspiring entrepreneur, right? Any business pitches brewing?

Ummm. No. Not many ideas yet. But they’re coming soon! So watch out for me in Forbes. In reality though, I would really like to work in the music industry. I have my own org called the Independent Musicians Organization at school. We’re still pretty young, but we help musicians find events to play at and get agents. It’s really cool.

Okay, staple questions real quick, Hogwarts House?

Ravenclaaaaw. My favorite color is purple so it works.

Zombie survival team?

Jaime: Because you could chronicle all of our adventures and how we survive.

Lauren: She can cook really good food out of anything.

Michael: He’s a good problem solver. He would be the leader. People just listen to what he says…even if he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Josh: He’s a beast at lazer tag. So obviously he would be good at shooting actual zombies.

8 Interns : 2 Months : 1 Office - Meet Zaneta! - Seva Team

Any weird…..I don’t know….food allergies? Horror stories?

Horror stories? There’s one per year. I’m allergic to all tree nuts, and I recently I found out I was allergic to buckwheat. I went to a crepe place with a friend of mine and the crepes were made with buckwheat, which I didn’t know. I ordered one and it was delicious so I kept eating it. I was fine but then a little while later I felt really sick and my throat was scratchy. My friend was freaking out and I was freaking out so we called the Emergency Medical Services at school and I ended up going to the hospital. I was okay. But it was bad. It was just bad…

Who has the biggest bromance in the office?

Matteo and Nabeel have the best bromance of all time. They’ve been here the longest and Matteo is always talking about how they’ve broken company records together. They’re basically an old married couple.

What’s your biggest fear?

Okay, this is going to sound weird, but I’m terrified of sloths. They are so creepy!! Some of my guy friends found out and now post sloth pictures to my Facebook constantly. So yeah. Sloths….and Manatees. Manatees look scary and aggressive.

You’re the Chief of Fun, in the office. Is it….fun?

As Chief of Fun, it’s my job to make sure everybody else is having fun. I don’t really fun. No, I’m kidding. It’s fun. I get to know everyone in the office really well. I like planning the events and stuff.

Chapter 9 Bankruptcy Definition - Lawyers - Bankruptcy

If you’ve been reading up on bankruptcy here with Seva Call, you may be wondering about the individual “chapters” of bankruptcy that you can file. We’ve explained the basics of Chapter 7 bankruptcy here before, but today we’re going to spend some time explaining another type of bankruptcy, one meant for pretty specific circumstances: the Chapter 9 bankruptcy definition.

Municipality Bankruptcy

Chapter 9 is one of the lesser-known types of bankruptcy, and it’s pretty uniquely specialized. Chapter 9 bankruptcy is specifically designed for municipalities, which means it’s the bankruptcy for towns, counties, cities, and districts. Chapter 9 bankruptcy allows these municipalities to reorganize their debts by refinancing, reducing interest, or simply giving them a little more time to repay. Municipality assets are not liquidated under the Chapter 9 bankruptcy definition.

Who Can File?

Well, obviously, if you’re a homeowner facing foreclosure, Chapter 9 isn’t for you, as only municipalities can file for Chapter 9. According to Bankruptcy Code, a municipality is defined as a “political subdivision” of a state, which is pretty broad. That means that a wide variety of entities can qualify, including school districts, tax districts, and more.

In order to file for Chapter 9, a municipality has to meet certain conditions:

1. It needs to be specifically authorized to file according to state law.

2. The municipality needs to be insolvent and have a desire to adjust its debts.

3. The municipality needs to gain the agreement of the majority of its creditors – or, barring that, at least provide evidence that a reasonable attempt to negotiate was made.

Filing Chapter 9

Before filing Chapter 9 bankruptcy, a municipality needs to meet some requirements for their state. These requirements vary, but many include the aforementioned negotiations with creditors at the very least. Once these conditions have been met, the municipality needs to prepare and deliver all of the relevant paperwork to the clerk of its bankruptcy court, at which point the petition may be accepted or rejected – most rejections happen as a result of not meeting all prerequisites for filing.

Need A Bankruptcy Lawyer?

Do you need to file Chapter 9 bankruptcy, or another chapter? If so, TalkLocal can help you find an attorney to help you prepare. Our free concierge service will connect you with an attorney in your area who will be happy to assist within minutes.

Get Rid Of Those Smelly Stinkbugs

Get Rid Of Those Smelly Stinkbugs - Pest Control

Stinkbugs stink! Literally. They are pests in your home and they smell terrible when you try to kill them. Stinkbugs caught a ride to the states on an Asian cargo ship in 2001 and have since been wreaking havoc on our lives. Here are some tips to help you get rid of those smelly stinkbugs.

Get Rid Of Those Smelly Stinkbugs

The number one thing to remember when dealing with stinkbugs is that squashing them is not the answer. When a stinkbug is squashed, stomped on, or crushed, it will let out a malodorous chemical. This is the reason these insects are called stinkbugs. Other stinkbugs are actually attracted to the smell that is released when they die, so you should avoid squashing these bugs unless you want more of these pests on your hands.

One option you have when trying to get rid of these pests is to vacuum. Vacuuming stinkbugs is effective because it will trap them without killing them. You should be very careful because even though it does not kill them, it will disturb them. In some cases, they will emit the smell anyway out of fear. You should vacuum quickly and then remove the bag as soon as possible. Put it into another bag and tie it tightly. Throw the bag away as far from your house as possible.

A preventative measure you should take is to seal up your home. Stinkbugs come into your home looking for somewhere to stay for the colder months. They enter in search of a bright, warm place to stay. They will hole up in any crack or crevice available. In order to stop this, inspect your home and seal up any holes or entry points. Check the foundation, water spigots, siding, windows, doors, and other areas of vulnerability. Any open gaps should be closed straightaway.

Call in the Pest Control Experts

If you are having problems getting rid of stinkbugs, you should seek professional exterminator help. Use TalkLocal to be put in contact with reliable local businesses almost immediately. You don’t have to do any work! Simply input your problem and availability and within minutes you should be on the phone with someone who can help you out with your pest infestation problem.

How to Replace Weather Stripping on Windows

How to Replace Weather Stripping on Windows - Window Replacement

Worn-out weather stripping on windows results in higher utility bills, because the stripping loses its ability to block drafts. It is highly recommended that you replace any old weather stripping with a new one to save on heating and air conditioning costs. If you have an old weather stripping material that is the peel-and-stick type, just pull the strip off to remove. If your stripping is secured with screws or nails, carefully remove each fastener.

Here’s how to install new weather stripping on double-hung windows using self-adhesive, V-shaped weather-stripping material:

1.) Using a damp cloth, clean the edges where you will add the weather stripping. Let the surfaces dry thoroughly.

2.) With a measuring tape, measure the length of each window area that will be weather stripped. Cut strips for the sides and bottom of the inner sash and the sides and top of the outer sash, making sure to add an inch to your measurements. You can also just hold the weather stripping in position against the sash and simply cut it slightly longer than the required length.

3.) Open the inner sash all the way up. Peel off the V-strip’s backing but leave the extra inch at the top end. Carefully press the strip (adhesive-side down) to the inside of a window jamb. The V of the strip should be facing inside. Do the same for the opposite side of the sash.

4.) Put the inner sash back in place. You’ll see the extra inches at the top of the strips with the backing still on. Peel off the backing and press the strips in place.

5.) Pull the outer sash all the way down. Install weather stripping to the window jamb the same way you did in Step 4. Also, add a strip to the top edge of the outer sash.

6.) Lift up the inner sash once more to apply weather stripping to the bottom edge.

These easy steps for replacing weather stripping on windows should seal up your sash windows rather nicely again, helping you cut your energy costs. Another excellent way to improve energy-efficiency in your home is to install insulated windows.
